3 Tips on How to Deal with Imposter Syndrome

Today, during our @femcity Global Member session, we talked about imposter syndrome. It was such a great conversation during our office hour time.

Many humans fall into this narrative and it only holds us back from moving forward. Imposter syndrome keeps us from expanding our impact, improving the lives of others and hiding the wonderful blessings we bring to this world.

Here are a few tips that I shared today to assist us when we suffer from imposter syndrome.

1. Count your receipts and go back to factual information that encompass all your years of experience, classes you took, certifications and degrees you obtained and all the hours you’ve spent to get to where you are today.

2. Recognize the narrative and remind yourself that every human goes through these thoughts. You have the power to move forward in uncomfortableness or stay stagnant. If you select to stay stagnant, others won’t benefit from your greatness.

3. Anytime we are about to up-level, this pattern may show up again. It’s part of our evolutionary presence. When our mind starts to unravel in the mode of imposter syndrome, it’s a sign that you’re about to up-level. And that’s a great thing and it’s time to move forward.

Other tips included keeping an ongoing resume that’s updated often to serve as your receipts.

If you find yourself stuck in this rotation, dig out messages of praise from those you’ve served before. They can also give you additional proof of your worth and assist you in moving forward.

And congratulations if you’re going through imposter syndrome. Bigger opportunities are around the corner, waiting for you.
